HeartDEV Cookie & Storage Policy
Effective Date: September 22, 2026
Last Updated: October 8, 2026
At a glance
HeartDEV uses a limited amount of local storage and cookies.
- Necessary preferences may operate without consent where the law allows.
- Google Analytics 4 is optional and is blocked until you accept analytics.
- You may reject analytics and continue using the site.
- You may change your decision through “Privacy Preferences.”
1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small pieces of data that a site or service may store in your browser.
localStorage is another browser technology used to retain preferences on the device.
Third-party providers may also use their own technologies when you activate their content.
2. Categories
A. Preferences and website operation
The following keys remember user choices and coordinate navigation. They are not used as advertising identifiers.
| Technology | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
heartdev_consent_v1 — localStorage |
Consent categories and choice timestamp | Until site data is cleared, the choice changes or the version is updated |
heartdev-motion-preference — localStorage |
Remember reduced-motion choice | Until cleared or changed |
heartdev-music — sessionStorage |
Track, position, volume, playback and shuffle preferences | For the tab session; browsers may restore it when recovering a session |
heartdev-cozy-sticker-entry — sessionStorage |
Coordinate the visual transition between pages | Removed when the transition is consumed or discarded, or when the session ends |
This storage stays in your browser. Self-hosted music and videos are delivered through the hosting infrastructure without embedding a third-party music player. These preferences support features you request and can be cleared through your browser.
B. Optional analytics
Google Analytics 4 loads only after analytics consent.
Typical GA4 cookies:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Default duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics | Distinguish users | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> |
Google Analytics | Maintain session state | Up to 2 years |
Browser limits, GA4 settings, or user actions may shorten these periods.
HeartDEV intends to configure GA4 user/event retention to 14 months.
C. External media
YouTube and certain external widgets may use their own storage when loaded.
HeartDEV intends to:
- use YouTube Privacy-Enhanced Mode;
- use click-to-load behavior where reasonable;
- avoid loading third-party widgets before they are needed.
3. Consent banner
Where required, the site will provide clear choices:
- Accept optional
- Reject optional
- Manage
Rejecting analytics must not prevent ordinary use of the site’s primary content.
4. Google Analytics consent
HeartDEV will use a prior-consent approach.
Before analytics consent:
- GA4 tags should not load;
- HeartDEV should not create analytics cookies;
- the site should not send analytics events to GA4.
After consent:
- GA4 may load;
- applicable cookies may be created;
- the choice will be remembered locally.
The contact form loads hCaptcha when you open it. This external security service may use browser storage and process technical information to prevent automated submissions. See our Privacy Policy and the hCaptcha Privacy Policy.
5. Changing or withdrawing consent
You may reopen privacy settings from the footer or equivalent control.
Withdrawal:
- prevents new analytics loading under the configuration;
- does not make prior lawful processing unlawful;
- may require deleting existing cookies through the site or browser depending on implementation.
6. Browser controls
You may also delete or block cookies/localStorage through your browser.
Blocking strictly necessary storage may affect site preferences.
7. External services
If you follow external links, those platforms’ own technologies and policies may apply.
8. Contact
Privacy questions: contact@heartdev.dev
9. Digital products
This Policy covers the website. Cookies, SDKs, identifiers, or storage used by a particular game or software product must be described in that product’s specific privacy documentation where applicable.
Interface preferences
heartdev-language stores your chosen language (English on the first visit). heartdev-ui-sounds stores whether interface sounds are enabled. Both use localStorage on your device and remain until you change them or clear browser storage. Sounds are synthesized locally after interaction; no audio data is sent to a third party. These preferences do not enable analytics.
